Bell and Howell Enduro Overview:

The Enduro inserting system will operate at speeds up to 11,000 envelopes per hour, depending on the configuration. These processing speeds make the Enduro inserting system a formidable solution for operations that process high volumes of one- to multiple- page, statement-type jobs in any environment where numerous applications are run on a regular basis.

Based on BÖWE BELL + HOWELL’s industry-renowned gripper-arm inserting technology and powered by the KOMPOS control system, the Enduro inserting system represents a new evolution in inserting technology.

Thanks to the integrated KOMPOS microprocessor and its plug-and-play design, the Enduro inserting system bring a new level of modularity to BÖWE BELL + HOWELL’s proven gripper-arm inserting technology. This opens the door to a broad and diverse range of add-on modules that can easily be integrated with the base system, including BÖWE BELL + HOWELL’s new line of dual-channel and cut-sheet feeders.

These modules, each with their own KOMPOS controller, communicate continously with the operating system to ensure complete mail piece integrity while improving performance levels by up to 40 percent on certain applications.

The Enduro inserting system features an integrated, intelligent learning technology known as Smart GRIP (Grip Remember Inform & Pull). With Smart GRIP, operators can activate a “teach” command through the user interface. In this mode, the gripper arm “reads” an insert, “remembers” the reference values and “reports” the thickness of the enclosures to the operating system.

As a job proceeds, each of the enclosures is compared to the stored values, and any processing errors—such as double pulls or misses are immediately identified. Since the operator can set the job to automatically bypass the mailpiece, use a backup enclosure feeeders, or stop for inspection integrity is enhanced and throughput maximized.

In addition to Smart GRIP, the Enduro inserting system offers pneumatic gripper arms. The pneumatic gripper arms, which can replace or be used in conjunction with the standard gripper arms, greatly increase the Enduro’s performance when processing difficult materials.

The Enduro inserting system may be configured with up to 24 insert stations. All enclosure feeders can be pneumatic, standard or any combination of both.

Additional improvements to the Enduro inserting system include:

  • Intelligent tracking throughout the document path
  • High-capacity envelope loader and high-capacity insert feeders
  • A redesigned insertion station
  • A new operating system and user interface
  • A high-volume, on-edge output conveyor

One system, multiple uses

The Enduro inserting system is built on BÖWE BELL + HOWELL’s modular design philosophy. This unique approach allows each system to be configured based on a customer’s specific requirements while affording the flexibility to add new capabilities as those needs evolve.

There are currently more than 100 paper-handling modules that can interface with the Enduro inserting system, ranging from roll feeders and continuous-form cutters to sheet feeders and heavy-duty folders. This multi-tool approach offers a greater freedom to process a growing number of jobs and enclosures while protecting their initial investments in technology.

Enhanced document integrity

To supplement the Enduro system checks for document tracking and integrity, BÖWE BELL + HOWELL’s VEKtor reading system can be added throughout the inserter. With VEKtor in place, barcodes can be read at the feeder and inserts verified in the hopper to ensure everything matches before continuing through the system. With VEKtor any code symbology is supported including the Intelligent Mail Barcode (iMB).

The Bell and Howell BH 2000 offers the most productive, reliable, cost-effective method of processing mail while providing the flexibility to add options that enhance the system as your applications change.

Bell and Howell BH 2000 Base Machine Features and Benefits:

New technology enhancements include:

  • Increased insert stack height from 10″ to 18″ (application dependent).
  • Newly designed envelope stuffing table for enhanced material control.
  • Low insert stack detection
  • High-capacity envelope loader that can triple the capacity of a traditional envelope hopper (optional feature)

Bell and Howell BH 2000 Additional Features and Benefits:

  • Gripper arms calibrate and recalibrate themselves during system operation, eliminating the occurrence of doubles and misses.
  • Back-up insert hoppers allow the operator to designate adjacent hoppers for the same insert, virtually eliminating most misses.
  • Track and support hardware and software improve control over inserts, reducing jams in the track while providing increased flexibility with the size of the inserts and types of material that can be run on your equipment.
  • Insert station improvements help to separate and pull materials, reducing jams in the raceway.
  • Shuttle envelope hopper provides added flexibility and reliability.
  • New laser beam detectors in the insert raceway area ensure instant stopping of the system should a problem arises, reducing damage to inserts.
  • New grooved insert plate, stop plate and return guide with modified pusher fingers reduce jams.
  • Automatic diverting of misses, doubles, and selected pieces – without stopping the inserting system – enable increased throughput while maintaining integrity.
  • Microprocessor control provides refined operation parameters, ease-of-operation and control over the entire system.
  • New single pump, dual-manifold vacuum system improves suction at each insert station and envelope feeder, resulting in fewer missed inserts and envelopes.

Let Symco rebuild your worn out swing arm inserter

Replace or Rebuild?

Many clients are running older swing arm inserters. We know this equipment is valuable to your daily business and you can’t be without it. Over the years, this equipment becomes worn out and many times causing missed deadlines and unnecessary overtime. Bandaid methods are used to keep them running.

Unfortunately, you do not have time for someone to come onsite and bring your equipment down or remove for several weeks to do a complete rebuild or you cannot cost justify replacing it with something new.

Symco Group is here to help. Our Rebuild service provides your company with equipment completely rebuilt at a fraction of the price of new and a savings over buying used.

You have two options with Symco. One is a “rebuild and replace” and the other is a “rebuild only” solution.

With the rebuild and replace solution, Symco will match the configuration of the existing piece(s) of equipment you have in production with an identically rebuilt machine or add additional (selective feed, reading, verification, tracking, accumulation/feeder/folder) features to a rebuilt machine that you’ve been needing but haven’t been able to justify buying.

Our trained technicians will configure your rebuilt machine with all new “wearable” parts such as shafts, belts, rollers, bearings, hoses, etc. Completely disassemble the machine to the frame and throughly clean every items, powder coat paint all metal and paint all skins and frame, and then re-assemble. We will then test your machine with your test documents to ensure it runs at peak production. Your machine will arrive at a minimum of 95% new.

Once the rebuild is complete, we will arrange the shipment of the rebuilt machine to your shop and have our technician(s) come onsite and install. Once it is up and running, our technicians will deinstall the existing worn machine, arrange, and handle the shipping out of your facility back to Symco as part of a trade in program.

For people who prefer to keep their existing inserter and only want it rebuilt, Symco Group’s second option provides you with a perfect solution. Symco Group will ship in a temporary inserter that matches the specs of your inserter, arrange for your inserter to be shipped to Symco Group for rebuild. Once rebuilt, Symco Group will arrange shipment and have our technician(s) come onsite and install. Once the rebuilt inserter in installed, Symco Group will have our temporary inserter picked up and shipped back to Symco Group.

In addition to our rebuild services, Symco Group can add Select Feed, Reporting, Document Tracking and new Feeder/Folder/Accumulator.

These processes are designed to guarantee maximum uptime for your business and provide a machine(s) that will provide many years of outstanding production at a fraction of the price of new
