Océ VarioPrint 135 Awarded Five Stars for Image Quality by Buyers Laboratory

The Océ VarioPrint 135 has been awarded a five-star rating for image quality, job submission, ease of use, and pre- flight and job preparation by Buyers Laboratory Inc. The Océ VarioPrint 135 was subjected to intensive custom tests consisting of 87,841 A4-sized impressions spanning 10 different media types. The press demonstrated a very high level of performance across BLI’s extensive test suite. This is the first time a device has received a five-star rating for image quality since BLI began the field testing of production units.

Redefining Excellence

Raising the bar on efficiency, versatility, sustainability, and image quality. Designed from the ground up to deliver robust, reliable performance.

The solution designed for today’s demands.

Imagine a new, highly stable technology that always delivers consistent, quality images. A truly digital technology that doesn’t require high temperatures and electrical charges. A high-speed production technology that produces zero ozone.

Introducing the Océ VarioPrint 135/120/110 series of monochrome digital presses, pairing Océ DirectPress technology and PRISMAsync operations management with Canon in-line finishing for a unified solution that pushes print productivity even higher.

Also known as the Océ VarioPrint DP Line, these models are based on the Océ DirectPress technology, a new, exceptionally stable imaging technology that removes variables that can negatively a ect print quality and consistency. Combine this with Canon in-line finishing for an end-to-end solution that rewrites the rules for image consistency, intuitive operation, system configurability, and performance uptime. It will help you cut costs, reduce your environmental footprint, and expand your capabilities and business opportunities. It simply redefines excellence in black-and-white production printing.

True End-to-End Solution

From workflow solutions through printing and finishing, the Océ VarioPrint DP Line delivers true digital production with Océ DirectPress technology.

High production performance from one compact system

Customers want professional, finished documents, whether they’re simple booklets or complex manuals. The Océ VarioPrint DP Line delivers, from preprinted inserting and high-capacity stacking, folding, and punching to stapling, booklet-making, and glue binding. All options can be integrated into one end-to-end solution for hands-o production workflows and quality documents that appeal to your customers.

Configurable workflow support

The Océ PRISMAsync controller and user interface can be set up to meet your precise needs. Choose the processing modes that fit your current workflow and add options as needed. Depending on your production requirements, you can make the job Scheduler, job editing, and DocBox functions available to operators. And when your workflow requirements change or grow, additional Océ PRISMA software modules can be added to increase system performance and throughput.

Image Consistency

Performance that makes every page a reflection of your business. With the Océ VarioPrint DP Line, you can consistently produce high-quality prints on a wide range of media across jobs, systems, and time.

Stability and reliability

One of the hallmarks of professional-quality printing is text and images that look and feel the same throughout every job, day after day and run after run. The new Océ VarioPrint DP Line uses Océ DirectPress technology to ensure consistent, high- quality printing on a wide range of media. The result is predict- able, o set-like output without streaks, striping, or banding— work that satisfies customers and keeps them coming back.

Great output on a wide range of media

Océ DirectPress technology uses a low fusing temperature that allows you to print on a wide range of media. The image is pressed directly onto the paper, so you can use structured
or textured stock.

Advanced active registration

Duplex printed documents predominate today’s monochrome print market, and customers know that tight registration is a sign of quality printing. The Océ VarioPrint DP Line features an intelligent, sensor-controlled process that enables tight front- to-back registration. This helps ensure that you can handle the high-visibility, quality-intensive jobs that your customers need.

Black and white in a colorful world

While most documents today are created in color, not all need to print that way. But then not all black-and-white printers handle color files well, either. The Océ VarioPrint DP Line uses Océ ScreenPoint technology to reproduce color halftones and photographs as grayscale images with excellent resolution, dense black fills, and precise fine lines. Plus, you can adjust contrast and control darkness and lightness, without sacrificing any detail, so every image is sure to live up to your customers’ expectations.

Ease of Use

Operators get intuitive workflow for immediate control and management of even the most complex jobs.

Built for user-friendly operation

Today’s customers expect better response and faster turnaround, and the VarioPrint DP Line helps make this happen. The operator panel combines the controller, user interface, and engine in one integrated concept. Its large touch-screen interface makes buttons a thing of the past, minimizing learning curves and reducing time and money spent on training. With the intuitive, modular interface, operators can perform a variety of functions effortlessly.

Efficient production management

PRISMAsync makes handling complex print jobs easy. The unique user interface with intelligent job Scheduler displays every queued job and an overview of the day’s work schedule. Jobs can be quickly rearranged as your needs or priorities change. An intuitive, visual interface groups jobs into a logical order by media type and displays up-to-the minute completion status. Visible from a distance, the Operator Attention Light displays the status of the printer. It signals upcoming operator interventions, such as media and consumable refills, giving you time to avoid interruptions in production.

Easy and efficient media handling

A customized, define-once media catalog drives your workflow with all the printer settings needed to handle media consistently and productively. Océ Paper Logic helps ensure correct media loading, even with preprinted or prepunched stock, helping to reduce errors and waste with first-time-right output.

Uniform, consistent operation

A single operating concept on all black-and-white and color printers driven by Océ PRISMAsync simplifies job handling for printing, scanning, and copying. This helps reduce training requirements and increases productivity, because operators can spend less time running the press and managing output, allowing the production start to be utilized more effectively.

Advanced job management and editing

With the optional DocBox, advanced document preparation and editing at both the job and page levels can be managed from a single point of control. This enables last-minute changes to a document at the printer, without going back to prepress, thus saving time and money.

Perfect-Fit System

Blend speed, input, finishing, and workflow to design a system that’s the ideal match for your operation.

Performance that fits

With duplex print speeds of up to 135, 120, and 110 images per minute, the Océ VarioPrint DP Line can be easily configured to meet your requirements for printing, scanning, paper input, finishing options, and workflow. And no matter the speed, automatic duplexing is available for all media up to 300gsm. Use it to fit your needs from scanning to printing and intelligent prepress to full, in-line production. Or, replace multiple existing machines with a single, all-digital multipurpose production device.

Multiple scanning options

Monochrome and color scanning capabilities let you offer services beyond black-and-white workflows. One-pass duplex scanner options include Scan-to-File, Scan-to-USB, Scan-to-E-mail, and Scan-to-DocBox, a repository of jobs that provides fast storage and access to jobs that may need to be rerun at a later date. Automated intelligence recognizes photo and text elements on every page, so print quality can be adjusted to deliver optimal results.

Versatile paper feed

Four standard paper trays are conveniently placed under the engine, conserving valuable floor space. An optional four-tray module expands capacity up to 8,600 sheets for hours of unattended production and features air separation and suction feed for productive, reliable feeding. The VarioPrint DP Line offers automatic sheet-size detection in all trays and Océ Paper Logic to help ensure correct orientation of every page. When duplexing, intelligent sensors provide near-perfect registration accuracy to help ensure a high-quality appearance.

Wide range of media

Every print provider wants to be able to use the widest possible array of substrates. Yet many light production printers are not able to run lighter or heavier-weight stocks efficiently. The Océ VarioPrint DP Line can accommodate substrates ranging from 14 lb. Bond to 110 lb. Cover (50—300gsm) in both the internal and the external paper input modules.

Streamlined functionality

A comprehensive and versatile range of modular, in-line finishing options helps eliminate the need for costly, space-consuming o -line equipment. The VarioPrint DP Line delivers labor-saving, efficient finishing operations in a singular footprint.

Modules for saddle-stitching, stacking, folding, and in-line trimming help you to produce and finish more jobs in-line, without the need for operator intervention. This shortens the time needed to complete a job and helps you to meet even the tightest deadlines.

Productivity

Productive printing is more than just speed. System availability, reliability, uptime, and efficient media handling all play a part.

Consistent performance that lets you do more

While some systems almost grind to a halt when printing on heavy media, the Océ VarioPrint DP Line adjusts for different- weight media on the fly, so you can count on nonstop performance with high print quality. Océ EnergyLogic measures the fusing requirements of incoming media and adjusts the fusing and print speed to match, so production can continue without interruption for mixed media documents.

Start printing immediately

Océ EnergyLogic also enables the system to start printing as soon as sufficient power is available. The system gradually accelerates until it’s fully warmed up.

Intuitive workflow for nonstop productivity

Océ PRISMAsync provides intelligent job scheduling controls for uninterrupted production and smooth workload planning. The 15-inch, full-color, touch-screen operator panel provides full control for scheduling, printing, scanning, copying, and even advanced job editing. The display shows the complete production schedule, indicating when each job will be finished. It also provides color-coded alerts to inform operators of upcoming requirements, such as toner or media refills, to help keep production moving.

Take control of your press’s uptime

No service call is the best service call. You can increase your uptime by taking advantage of the Printer Operation Care program. Requiring no training, this program allows operators to replace certain parts themselves in an easy and secure way. When service intervention is needed, an innovative service concept helps ensure the shortest turnaround time.
