Looking to add, upgrade or replace your tabbing solution? Symco Group is an authorized reseller for Asmarc Accufast for their complete line of Addressing Printers, Tabbers, Labelers, Affixers and more. Contact Symco Group today (info@symcogroup.com or 800-878-8002) to purchase your next tabbing solution.
Asmarc Accufast manufacturers several models to fit all your needs.
Accufast ET:
Tabs both booklets and self mailers in the correct spots automatically. Very little setup or operator interaction is required. Select the correct tab mode, load the proper tabs and feed pieces from whatever device you choose on the front end. When full, just clean out the waste and splice on another strip of tabs and go.
Accufast KT:
Table top tabber that applies either a 1″ or 1.5″ tab at speeds of 15,000 per hour. The KT is a crash tabber module and must be used with a feeder. The KT is the entry level for a professional level tabbing solution. By combining the KT with an FX feeder and CS3 output conveyor it creates a robust tabbing solution for your business needs.
Accufast KT2:
The KT2 is the “big brother” to the KT. The KT2 takes care of twin tab requirements on thin forms in a single pass. Each tabbing head works independently of the other as they apply tabs to the leading edge of the pieces moving through the machine.
Accufast Freehand Tabber:
Simple unit with a built in feeder. The Freehand Tabber uses crash tab technology in which a tab is ejected in front of the piece and the piece crashes into it carrying the tab and the piece between a set of rollers where the tab is folded and sealed. The Freehand tabber is a perfect machine if you are only tabbing a few mailers and need a machine to get it done quickly.
Accufast Slim Jim System:
The Slim Jim system is the combination of the of the KT 1.5″ tabber running inline with the Accufast ET. The Accufast Slim Jim allows you to get the extra tab on a side at right angles to the initial side as it runs the piece through the ET and into the KT.
Accufast LDM:
Until now rolled tabs were available on either small (5-10,000) or large (40,000) tabs per roll. The small rolls were always running out and the large rolls were hard to handle. Either way, production suffered. The ACCUFAST LDM handles rolls of at least 75,000 tabs and delivers the tabs to the tabber smoothly and automatically. The rolls are easy to handle and rolls may be spliced one to the other to avoid rethreading (another production killer). Tabs are wound on a spool which simplifies handling and increases the tab count per roll. An adapter kit allows he LDM to be set up to run pancake rolls of less than 12 inches in diameter. This allows a mailer to use up his supply of old tabs prior to switching to the ACCUFAST spooled tabs.
Based on a study published by Bloomberg, the average life expectancy of a multinational Fortune 500 corporation or equilivant is between 40 and 50 years. A full 1/3 of the companies listed in 1973 Fortune 500 had vanished by 1983 through mergers, acquisition or broken apart.
What does this have to do with Symco?
Symco is 32 years old this year!
How did we get here?
Symco started in 1983 brokering Burroughs (the original one) terminals and desktop printers. This quickly expanded to buying and selling Burroughs mainframes.
In 1985, one of our clients in Atlanta was looking for a company to maintain their Burroughs mainframe. They asked us if we knew of an alternate source other than Burroughs. From that conversation, they asked us to do the support and we agreed. We hired our first tech and rapidly grew our mainframe support business in the metro Atlanta market.
After many great years supporting Burroughs mainframes, a new “flavor” began chipping away at that equipment base – Unix. Small and mid-size Burroughs shops began converting to less expensive Unix systems. We began the process of looking for the next growth platform.
Talking with our clients, we began looking for solutions to support that were larger, mission critical electro-mechanical in nature and were not a large leap from our core competencies. Some of our banking clients had check processing equipment that fit the model. We began by supporting Unisys (Burroughs and Sperry had merged by this time and became Unisys) check sorters. We have sold and supported every variety of Unisys sorter produced since the Unisys/Burroughs S4000 and S6000’s.
Over the years, we expanded our check scanning support to include other manufacturers to include NCR, Banctec and IBM. Today we are recognized as an ISO by NCR which allows us to license the diagnostics and buy parts if needed directly from NCR.
In 2003, Check 21 was enacted into law and has slowly impacted the check transport business. Seeing that we needed to adjust again, Symco again looked at our customers businesses to see what our next opportunity would be. We expanded our support to include desktop check scanners and provided several options to include onsite support, depot support and managed delivery. We also resharpened our support from the back office of check processors to the front lines of financial institutions.
In 2012, we had another client ask us to look at supporting their production print and mail insertion equipment. These conversations lead to our company supporting a whole host of new equipment for them that fits with our core competencies. Production printers, mail insertion and pre and post equipment from several manufacturers expanded our capabilities. In order to meet those needs, we acquired Pro Mailing Equipment which has a history and technical expertise within this industry.
Today, we still sell and support many of the same equipment types and even some of the same customers from many years ago. The models have changed from the original Burroughs S4000’s to the latest Quantum sorters or Unisys B6500 to Unisys Libra mainframe or Oce’ Ion Deposition Printers to today’s digital ink jet printers but the our core focus has remained true. We buy, sell and support large, mission critical electro-mechanical solutions.
We believe our success and ability to stay in business for the long term can be directly attributed to:
We are looking forward to many more years and thank each and every client who has worked with our company over the years.

Many years ago companies typically refreshed their hardware platform on a three to five year cycle and very few considered multi-vendor maintenance providers because this cycle often coincided with the warranty offered by the manufacturer.
Today most companies, regardless of size, are faced with budget constraints and the need to reduce capital outlays that make retaining equipment for a longer period of time a necessity. In our opinion, replacing most hardware every three to five years is not necessary if equipment is properly serviced and preventative maintenance is performed on a cycle that matches the usage of each client.
Let’s consider the life cycle of a typical piece of electro-mechanical equipment that is mission-critical to your organization:
What this scenario ignores is that the piece of equipment you already own does the job and that there are alternatives to the OEM post warranty maintenance, but in the past you accepted that you’d have to buy a new solution to keep your cost down.
Outside of your business you understand this makes no sense. There is no way you’d let the manufacturer of your dishwasher dictate that you need to buy a replacement every three to five years. In your own home, you run that dishwasher until it can’t be fixed any longer and then you buy a new one. In the meantime you probably rely on non-OEM service companies to come out and fix it when needed.
Why not do that with your business too? There are many reasons to switch to third party multi-vendor support.
1) Value. Typically, you will save between 30% and 50% off the maintenance rates of the OEM. These can be substantial savings which eliminate the apparent cost reduction from new equipment. Savings, which allow you to invest in your business, keep or expand staff, buy additional solutions or simply put more money in your pocket.
2) Multi-Vendor Support. You can simplify your support structure by having one company provide maintenance for all your equipment. This structure allows you to have one point of contact for all issues and not deal with multiple vendors every day. One support organization eliminates finger pointing and eliminates multiple contracts.
3) Unbiased Assessment. When you are looking for an answer from an OEM, they will push you to a solution they can provide. This makes sense for them however it’s not in your best interest. Their competitors may have more robust solutions but they won’t tell you that. Most multi-vendor third party organizations are agnostic towards the manufacturers and will point you to a solution regardless of the OEM.
4) Flexibility. With most multi-vendor third party organizations you have the ability to customize the service to meet your needs. The ability to customize service level agreements, coverage times, peak coverage, preventative maintenance routines, parts availability are all things to consider when you are comparing OEM support to multi-vendor third party support.
When an OEM feels threatened by a multi-vendor third party organization, they will try to play the “software support” card. They will tell you that you run the risk of losing software support, upgrades, etc. This has proven over the years to be a myth.
Multi-vendor third party organizations can provide technical help desk support for most operating systems if the firmware, patches and upgrades are publically available. If they are not available, the multi-vendor third party organization can help procure them and provide the installation.
The less publicized option that OEM’s keep secret is that most will split your hardware and software maintenance contracts apart. This allows customers who want that additional level of software support to have the ability to receive support on the equipment’s operating system.
In post-warranty or end-of-life scenarios, the software in this equipment is battle tested. It is typically very stable and upgrades are very seldom necessary.
The savings that can be made by using a multi-vendor third party maintenance provider for hardware support and buying a patches or updates as required are usually substantial.
When you are looking for a multi-vendor third party maintenance provider, the questions to ask are:
1) Do they have a staff of qualified field engineers?
2) Do they have the infrastructure to provide equal to or better support than the OEM?
3) Are they able to provide support customized to your needs?
4) Is there a a transition plan that is well documented and precise?
5) Are there systems and processes in place that are easily defined?
6) Do they have a proven track record of success backed by references?
Symco Group can answer yes to all of these questions. We provide support across all type of equipment and provide our clients with greater control of capital expenditures, allowing them to delay expensive hardware refreshes and/or upgrades.
When working with Symco you do not have to surrender quality of service. You receive service as good or better than the OEM’s at a fraction of the cost and we’ve been providing this support since 1983.

Replace or Rebuild?
Many clients are running older swing arm inserters. We know this equipment is valuable to your daily business and you can’t be without it. Over the years, this equipment becomes worn out and many times causing missed deadlines and unnecessary overtime. Bandaid methods are used to keep them running.
Unfortunately, you do not have time for someone to come onsite and bring your equipment down or remove for several weeks to do a complete rebuild or you cannot cost justify replacing it with something new.
Symco Group is here to help. Our Rebuild service provides your company with equipment completely rebuilt at a fraction of the price of new and a savings over buying used.
You have two options with Symco. One is a “rebuild and replace” and the other is a “rebuild only” solution.
With the rebuild and replace solution, Symco will match the configuration of the existing piece(s) of equipment you have in production with an identically rebuilt machine or add additional (selective feed, reading, verification, tracking, accumulation/feeder/folder) features to a rebuilt machine that you’ve been needing but haven’t been able to justify buying.
Our trained technicians will configure your rebuilt machine with all new “wearable” parts such as shafts, belts, rollers, bearings, hoses, etc. Completely disassemble the machine to the frame and throughly clean every items, powder coat paint all metal and paint all skins and frame, and then re-assemble. We will then test your machine with your test documents to ensure it runs at peak production. Your machine will arrive at a minimum of 95% new.
Once the rebuild is complete, we will arrange the shipment of the rebuilt machine to your shop and have our technician(s) come onsite and install. Once it is up and running, our technicians will deinstall the existing worn machine, arrange, and handle the shipping out of your facility back to Symco as part of a trade in program.
For people who prefer to keep their existing inserter and only want it rebuilt, Symco Group’s second option provides you with a perfect solution. Symco Group will ship in a temporary inserter that matches the specs of your inserter, arrange for your inserter to be shipped to Symco Group for rebuild. Once rebuilt, Symco Group will arrange shipment and have our technician(s) come onsite and install. Once the rebuilt inserter in installed, Symco Group will have our temporary inserter picked up and shipped back to Symco Group.
In addition to our rebuild services, Symco Group can add Select Feed, Reporting, Document Tracking and new Feeder/Folder/Accumulator.
These processes are designed to guarantee maximum uptime for your business and provide a machine(s) that will provide many years of outstanding production at a fraction of the price of new
